Brenda Perry Herrera, born in Mexico, is an artist who migrated to the United States at the age of three, spending her formative years in the U.S.-Mexican border city of El Paso, Texas. Her artistic endeavors consistently explore themes of societal and ecological significance through the use of diverse technologies. Perry Herrera has assumed multifaceted roles in her projects, acting as a researcher, educator, technologist, airplane pilot and mother.
Educationally, Perry Herrera holds a Bachelor of Art degree from Columbia College, a Master of Art degree in Art Education from the University of Texas El Paso, and a Master of Fine Art from the School of Visual Arts. Her artistic footprint extends nationally and internationally, with exhibitions at esteemed institutions such as BRIC, McKinney Avenue Contemporary, New York Hall of Science, El Paso Museum of Art, and Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez. Brenda Perry Herrera has received recognition through numerous awards and fellowships, including the En Foco Photography Fellowship Award and the Good Work Institute Fellowship. She was previously represented by Praxis Gallery in New York City, and her works are held in both private and public collections. In March 2025, Brenda Perry Herrera delivered a TEDx talk at SVA Women, where she explored themes of motherhood, identity, and advocacy for social and policy change for mothers through the lens of her artistic practice.
